SHOPPER BUS

Ashover Parish Council is sponsoring a shopper bus and trips to Chesterfield and Bakewell Markets have been arranged for February, March and April picking-up from Littlemoor, Milltown, Ashover, Kelstedge and other appropriate points upon request. These are trial trips and must be pre-booked, an initial charge of £3.50 will be made which will be adjusted according to demand. Buses will depart from Littlemoor at 10 am arriving at the destination around 11 am and returning around 2.15 pm. For further information and to book a place, please contact Cllr John Wardle on (01246) 590573.

Please note that this service was requested by many residents during the recent Parish Plan Consultations and its future will be dependent upon demand.

SPRING CLEAN-UP

Following on from the success in the Village of the Year competition, Councillors are keen to encourage a “spring clean-up” in the parish and are seeking volunteers to take part. It is thought that an ideal time would be following on from the May Day Carnival Celebrations with provisional dates of 6th and 7th May 2006 being suggested. The District Council has offered to provide litter picking tools, gloves and bin liners and the event would be advertised locally. If you are keen to support this initiative, please put your name forward to either Cllr John Wardle or the Parish Clerk (contact details on back page).

ASHOVER PARISH PLAN

The Working Group has submitted the draft plan to the Parish Council detailing 41 recommendations for future consideration and Councillors resolved that the Plan be published for distribution. A grant has been obtained from DEFRA and it is hoped that this will cover printing costs. Many areas highlighted in the Group’s consultations are already receiving attention, including transport, highways problems, affordable housing and general appearance of the parish.
