Councillor Clive Baxter
05.09.1938 – 03.01.2007
The
Parish Council wishes to pay tribute to the late Councillor Clive Baxter. Clive took up the role of a Parish
Councillor in August 1984 and was elected Vice-Chairman in 1995, before taking
up the Chairmanship in May 2004. For
many years, Clive also undertook the role of Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Clive
was totally committed to his role within the Parish Council, rarely missing a
meeting and serving his community selflessly.
The Parish Council and its staff pay tribute to an exceptional member of its Council and the Ashover Parish. Sincere condolences are extended to Clive’s family at this very sad time.
ELECTIONS - Parish Council elections will take place
on 3 May 2007;nomination papers will be available from NEDDC early March and
MUST be submitted to the Elections Office at NEDDC by Noon on 4 April
2007. If you would like to know more

ROYAL
VISIT - The visit by HRH The
Prince of Wales proved to be a successful and enjoyable day and letters of
congratulations have been received from parish organisations, the Lord
Lieutenants Office and Clarence House. A very special thank you is extended to everyone,
whose enthusiasm and warm welcome to HRH The Prince of Wales highlighted the
reason why it is an award winning community. A souvenir DVD and booklet
will be available.
SPRING
CLEAN DAY - We are doing it again! A date
has yet to be decided. Following on
from a highly successful Parish Clean Up in May 2006 it has been decided to run
the event again this year. Please
volunteer, whether it’s a family ‘litter picking’ walk or one, two or more
hours to suit yourself. Clean up an area that you are aware of or choose from a
list to be published nearer the time. Contact John Wardle on 590673, John Bown

SHOPPER BUS – BAKEWELL/CHATSWORTH FARM SHOP: Usually
operating once a month, this service starts in Littlemoor at 10.15am and picks
up by arrangement at Milltown, Ashover & Kelstedge returning to Ashover
around 3.00pm. Cost £3.50 return (no gold cards) accompanied wheelchairs
accommodated. Dates are:- 12 March/23 April/14 May/11 June/9 July/13 August/10
Sept/8 Oct/12 Nov/10 Dec. To book phone John Wardle on 590573.
CHESTERFIELD: Runs alternate Friday starting in Littlemoor at 10.30am
calling at Milltown, Ashover & Kelstedge & leaving Chesterfield at
1.45pm. FREE service to gold card holders and £3 return for others (wheelchairs
accommodated). For information and to

These
services were requested in the Ashover Parish Plan…please use them or lose
them!
SOCIAL
CAR SCHEME - We have volunteer
drivers, freely giving their time, and well run organisation operating this
service throughout the Parish. We believe that many more people in the parish
could use the service but may be a little shy at coming forward. If
your regular lift can't take you, or your family has other commitments, why not
join the service. It costs £2 to
register and from then on its only 40 pence a mile. Whether its
a hospital or Doctor visit, to meet friends at the other end of the Parish
or to get to the Dentist, Hairdresser, shops or Rail Station; the service is for you .

KELSTEDGE NOTICE BOARD – The Parish
Council notice board at Kelstedge has been subjected to vandalism over the past
couple of years; notices have been torn off and burned, and plastic doors
broken off and smashed on two occasions.
The acrylic doors have now been replaced and the Parish Council asks
that anyone witnessing vandalism should report this straight away to the Police
on 0845 123 33 33.
FLOODING – In emergencies, sandbags and filling
material are available for use. Please phone John Bown, Parish Lengthman, on

WELCOME PACK – If you are new to the area and want to
