Councillor Helen Boffy
Whilst recently retired, in my professional life I was the Chief Finance Officer for a district council and then a Police and Crime Commissioner. So I have many years experience of most aspects of local government in general and finance in particular.
Since moving to Ashover in 2011, I have become involved in several local groups. I am a member of Ashover WI where I am the Treasurer and I am a church bellringer at St. Helen's. I also enjoy needle crafts particularly patchwork and quilting. I have had some moderate success with home made wine at the annual Produce Club show.
I am a founding member of Act Now for Ashover, an action group that worked hard against inappropriate housing development in Ashover village, mainly on Narrowleys Lane/Moor Rd.
More recently I have taken on the voluntary role of Bookings Manger for the Bassett Rooms as I want to serve the community. This gives me the opportunity to engage with lots of individuals and groups in Ashover
